The New Ford Bronco: 4 Great Video Reviews and A Visual History

Welcome to my latest obsession: the new 2021 Ford Bronco. I have been researching, watching, and staring starry-eyed at the long-awaited revival of this classic car. The result of my totally-healthy obsession, with dreams of broncos dancing in my head, is this (hopefully useful) post. It includes 4 very helpful, straightforward reviews of the new Bronco and some historical highlights for those that are equally obsessed.

Ford has been planning a new version of the Bronco for a while, and the time has nearly come. You can officially order your favorite version of the 2021 Bronco online, and they’re set to be distributed in Spring 2021.

Look at these beauties…

On top of all the new models, there are a TON of options that vary depending on which model you’re talking about. That’s a lot of info to get through, hence the reason I’ve been binging some really helpful video reviews of the new Bronco.

This might read kinda like a sponsored post, but it’s not. I’m not saying I’d say no to Ford sending one my way… but they haven’t. YET.

The idea of the new Bronco just happens to pull at my wilderness-loving heartstrings. It also calls to nostalgia for me, no doubt. So I’ve been obsessing, and what am I here for if not to share my obsessions?

You can see some photos from my past explorations of the Beautiful Bryce Canyon here, or some forest adventures here and here.

I also put together a list of 20 outdoorsy gifts and a guide to hiking boots recently, NBD.

I’ve included 4 of the best video reviews of the 2021 Bronco (IMO) in this post. Each review covers the 2021 Bronco specs and performance slightly differently, so when combined they give you an extremely well-rounded analysis.

The 4 video reviews cover:

  • A thorough overview of the Bronco (over 30 minutes long)
  • A more personal first impression run-through of the new vehicle and its features
  • A review that focuses more on the technical details of the 2021 Bronco’s build
  • And a very useful Bronco “buyers guide”, which will no doubt come in handy for anyone who is on the final stretch to actually putting in an order

Before getting to all that jazz for the brand new Bronco though, I thought it would be kinda rad to take a look at the history of this classic off-roader. The Ford Bronco went through several style updates before it finally disappeared from the world in the mid-90s, and I think you’ll really enjoy seeing the evolution through the years.

At the very least, understanding the history of this rugged classic gives you more of an appreciation for the new version. That’s not a knock on the old-timers. It helps you understand what the designers did to call-back to the classic, and what they did to bring it into the future.

The History of the Ford Bronco

The Bronco first came into our lives in 1966 (my personal favorite design style) and stopped being produced in ’96 – until now.

Ford has been making and marketing a new form of the old favorite (they actually teased the idea all the way back in 2004) and it’s almost here. The 2021 Ford Bronco is made for 2021, but they managed to retain enough of the classic style that it will likely appeal to people who envision the vintage cars of yesteryear.

There is a cool walkthrough of the history of the Bronco here, and you can see tons of images of different Bronco models throughout the ages here.

Influenced by the classic, built for the future.

If you look at the 2021 version, something becomes clear very quickly – they are rugged. These SUVs are packed with modern features and (to varying degrees depending on the version) look like they are made to win 2021’s Off-Road Vehicle Award.

If there is such a thing. I’m not a car-person, guys. I’m just obsessed with this one.

I’m not a car person, generally, but I am an outdoorsy person, so I’ve been keeping an eye on this new version of the old legend because it seems like something special. I get the impression that it’s somewhat of a passion project for the car-makers, and my guess is that means it won’t disappoint.

Best video reviews and “first-looks” for the 2021 Ford Bronco

Like most people, I don’t have access to a 2021 Bronco yet, but because I’ve been keeping an eye on it I’ve spent a fair bit of time watching videos from people that are lucky enough to get ahold of one.

Thorough Video Tour of the New Ford Bronco

From Doug DeMuro this video review goes through the different 2021 Bronco models in detail, and talks about some pros and cons. It’s about 30 minutes in total, so you get a lot of info.

First Impressions of the Bronco Badlands

This is a video review from Last Line of Defense of the 2021 version as a real-time first impression. You get some simple, honest info and footage of what the Badlands version is like, along with a first impression of the sport version.

2021 Ford Bronco Build Review

From the aptly-named Bronco Nation, this review really goes into the performance and mechanical build. If you’re looking for a more in-depth understanding of what this car is made of, this is a great video review for that.

A Buyer’s Guide to the New Ford Bronco

This video guide is from Overland Bound and serves as a very handy, practical buyers guide. If you’ve seen a lot about the Bronco but want to get down to the details and differences between the 7 models, this video is incredibly helpful.

I hope you find these reviews as helpful as I did. I think between all of them I have a much more comprehensive understanding of these vehicles, even without seeing one in person yet.

The Bronco speaks to two parts of me. One is my childhood and crawling around in older beat-up versions of these cars, not thinking they were anything special. They always seemed a little hot and dusty. The other is the part that can’t get enough of forests, rivers, and mountains.

I can’t wait to see more of them as we get into 2021.

Do you have a favorite year of the classic? If given the choice, would you go for one of the vintage versions or the new one?
