A cozy cabin, tucked away from the rest of the world, just screaming write here! That’s the dream. Lucky it’s not too far-fetched of a dream either. Airbnb isn’t just good for the occasional vacation, it can also help you find your perfect writer’s cabin for a secluded writing retreat. This post includes several cabins and cottages that you can currently find on Airbnb in Maine.
Why Maine? I’ve just been on a Maine kick lately. Maybe because we’re getting into Fall – I’m obsessed enough with Fall that I wrote a whole post about it, which actually also includes some ideas on writing – maybe because Maine is remote, and being away from people has been sorta the theme of the year. Either way, I can 100% get behind a little writing getaway to some cabin in the forest.
…I’m aware that’s how a lot of horror movies start, but still.
I also put together another list of 12 cozy cabin getaways on Airbnb – but this one has spots all over the world. Check it out here!
A writer is someone for whom writing is more difficult than it is for other people.

Writing in general seems like it should be easy. You shouldn’t have to lock yourself up in some remote cabin to get the words out, right? Maybe, but the reality is there’s actually reason to believe that our everyday life may simply not be conducive to creativity. This Buffer article goes over some of the ways your brain chemistry is either prepped for creative work or hampered.
To remedy the times when life becomes suffocating to creative work, it might help to simply get lost for a while.
Find a cozy cabin to hole up in for a few days or a couple of weeks, somewhere distraction can melt away, and relaxation can settle in, allowing creativity to breathe more freely once again.
If per chance, you are looking at road tripping to your sweet cabin getaway, I put together a list of some great road trip apps here.

Speaking of rustic without the rust, this airbnb escape has all the luxury of modern life (and then some) with all the magic of a treehouse. The owner’s refer to it as “eco-luxury” and that’s pretty much the perfect way to describe this place. There’s even a small writing desk in the loft bedroom.
If you’re into some of the more off-grid cabins for your ideal retreat, you might wanna check out this beginner’s guide to hiking shoes. I researched a bunch of stuff for my own adventures and put it all together over there.
